Developer and photographer.
I'm a software engineer and photographer based in Auckland.
On the software side, most things I've built started because something didn't exist or wasn't good enough. I like working on problems that have a real point to them and I find the process of making something from scratch genuinely enjoyable, not just the part where it finally works. I'm finishing up a degree in software engineering at the University of Auckland, though most of what I've learned has come from just building things.
Photography has been part of my life since I was young. It started with wanting to capture nature and grew into covering a pretty wide range of subjects and styles over the years. Sports, community events, portraits, landscapes. I just love it, and I always have.
Outside of that I stay involved with the people around me. I've helped lead youth camps and spent a lot of time working with young people in my community, not as something to put on a resume but because it's genuinely where I want to be. I care about that kind of thing.
When I'm not doing any of it I'm usually staying active, trying not to doomscroll or halfway through some personal project I started on a whim.
